Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

twenty-two days...

The days tick on toward Christmas...
twenty-two to go...
continuing to seek the Word...
for revelation of Him...

Even though He came as King...
He came humbly...

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.
Isaiah 11:1 ESV

He came forth... a shoot from the stump...

Have you ever seen a shoot...? coming from a stump...?

It's a humble looking thing...
growing out of what appears dead...

This is how Jesus came...
from the stump of Jesse...

Jesse... King David's father...
symbolized as a fallen tree...
a stump...

The mighty nation of Israel had seen better days...
they no longer ruled themselves...
the long line of corrupt kings long dethroned...

Jesus... King Jesus...
came forth from a stump...

His mother a young virgin from David's family line...
Her betrothed... Joseph... from the same lineage...

The couple chosen... blessed to be Jesus's parents...
were of humble means... reflecting the downfall of the nation...

Joseph a poor carpenter...
Mary... at the time... considered a fallen young woman...
coming up pregnant before the wedding...
and since Joseph obeyed God's call to marry her...
his character came into question too...

A stump of a family...
gave birth to Jesus...

And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him
in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger,
because there was no place for them in the inn.
Luke 2:7 ESV

Born in a barn...
He came forth humbly...
for the humble...

"... For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost." ---Jesus
Luke 19:7 ESV

Lord Jesus... thank You for coming down... for coming humbly...
Thank You... for Your great compassion... coming to seek...
and save... the lost...

Thank You... for saving... me...
