Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

fifteen days...

Fifteen days... till Christmas...
This morning I realized things I haven't yet done this year...
things done in the past... by this time...
No Nativity scene set out...
The Advent wreath with Mary riding the donkey round and round... a candle for each counting-down-day... still in its box...

Resting in where He leads this year...

Seeking Him... the heart of the Season...
not wanting anything... to distract... steal joy... or... peace...

He came to proclaim the Father...
He came in the Spirit of the Lord...

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.
And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord.
And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord.
He shall not judge by what his eyes see,
or decide disputes by what his ears hear...
Isaiah 11:1-3 ESV

Jesus's picture of the Father painted so clearly...
because the Spirit... rested on Him...

Spirit... the very Breath of God...
surrounded... rested on... infused...
the Son...

Spirit... another word meaning essence... character...
a revelation Word...
spirit... an animating or vital principle held to give life to physical organisms... a supernatural being or essence... soul... temper or disposition of mind or outlook especially when vigorous or animated... the immaterial intelligent or sentient part of a person... the activating or essential principle influencing a person...
---Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (11th Ed.)
Jesus came with Father God's Spirit on Him...
His Being...
His temper...
intelligence...
principles...

And [Jesus] came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up.
And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the
Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. And the scroll of the
prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll
and found the place where it was written,

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me
to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight
to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the
attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue
were fixed on him. And he began to say to them,
"Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."
Luke 4:16-21 ESV

The whole essence of God...
Father... Son... Spirit...
is for freedom...
restoration...
redemption...
healing...
of His people...
His creation...

Jesus came bearing God the Father's soul...
a soul willing to die... for His people...

Lord... Your love that empties Self...
and dies to save...
help me to understand it more clearly...
help me know You more intimately...
help me to know Your love... for... me...
