Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

The Journey Readings: Week 102... and... twelve days...

Twelve days until Christmas...
Are you preparing...? or panicking...?
Are you trusting Him...? not only in the things of the heart...? but in the home...? (Questions... not just for you... but for me too...?!)

The reading through of The Journey... affirms... expands... the teaching on fear of the Lord...

And there shall be stability in your times,
an abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge;
the reverent fear and worship of the Lord
is your treasure and His.
Isaiah 33:6 Amp

Fear of the Lord...
based on knowledge of Him...
is our treasure...

Jesus had it...
showed us we needed it...
Fear of the Lord... a spiritual treasure...

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in
and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust destroys and
where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also. ..." --- Jesus
Matthew 6:21 ESV

Knowledge of Him...
reverential... awe... fear of the Lord...
is a treasure... that cannot be stolen...
does not fade away... or corrode...

Knowledge of Him... is an eternal treasure...
It is a wealth of knowledge... moving us toward obedience... humility... thankfulness... and... love...

When we know Him... we wonder...

O Lord, what is man that you care for him,
the son of man that you think of him?
Psalm 144:3

The awe of seeing Him... stoop down... in love...
experiencing only a small portion... of His greatness...
melts our hearts... with love... grace... mercy...

It is our treasure... and His...

When His people properly know Him... fear Him rightly... it is a treasure to Him also...

Fear of the Lord in His people... is evidence of... the righting of a wrong... His purpose coming to pass... His desire... His delight... being known... as He knows us...

We... who fear... revere... worship...
are His treasured possession...

Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant,
then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession.
Although the whole earth is mine...
Exodus 19:5

He knows... any other way than knowing Him... and fearing Him... leads us to destruction...

It breaks His heart... to see us on paths leading to death...
He loves us... He loves the world... the kosmos...
the whole rebellious mess...
so when we fear Him... rightly... it is His treasure too...

Jesus came to show us how to fear Him rightly...
came to delight in Him... and in those who fear Him...

Lord... I want to be a treasure to You...
