Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

twenty-four days...

Twenty-four days till Christmas...
another offering of twenty-five words of Him...

His history with His people...
Abraham...
Isaac...
Jacob...
Joseph...
Moses...
Joshua...
David...
was tumultuous at times...

The cycle of sin and obedience...
blessing and punishment...
continued for hundreds... and hundreds... of years...

But in it all... He threaded through...
the ultimate message of the coming Savior...
Messiah...
His Son...

The prophets alluded to His coming over and over...

...the Lord himself will give you a sign.
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14 ESV

The proclamation of this sign...
given to a disobedient king...
in a country on the verge of exile...
some 500 years before it came to pass...

Some 500 years later...
Gabriel visited a young woman named Mary...

And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God. And behold,
you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great
and will be called the Son of the Most High.
And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David,
and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his kingdom there will be no end."
And Mary said to the angel, "How will this be,
since I am a virgin?"
Luke 1:30-34 ESV

He wanted His people to know... to remember...
from the very beginning...
there was a Savior coming...
One who could be recognized...
One for whom He would prepare the way...
One we desperately needed...

Even in the midst of judgment...
He longed for them to know...
a permanent fix to the cycle of sin...
was coming...

Father God... Your patience... with Your people...
a great sign of Your love...
