Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

The Journey Readings: Week 79... and His perspective...

And 480 years after the Israelites came out of the land of Egypt,
in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel,
in the second month, Ziv, he began to build the Lord's house.
1 Kings 6:1 Amp

God sees things from an eternal perspective...
and this is the perspective He speaks to us from...

480 years earlier... God led the people out of Egypt...
40 years they wandered in the desert...
then He prepared them to enter the land...

These are the statutes and rules that you shall be careful to do
in the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you
to possess, all the days that you live on the earth. You shall
surely destroy all the places where the nations whom you shall
dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains
and on the hills and under every green tree. You shall tear
down their altars and dash in pieces their pillars...
You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way.
But you shall seek the place that the Lord your God will choose
out of all your tribes to put his name and make his habitation there.
There you shall go, and there you shall bring your burnt offerings
and your sacrifices, your tithes and contribution that you present,
your vow offerings, your freewill offerings and the firstborn
of your herd and of your flock. And there you shall eat
before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice...
Deuteronomy 12:1-7 ESV

Over 400 years earlier... God gave this word to His people...
He said He would choose the place for them to worship...
and He did... 400 years later...

God sees things from an eternal perspective...
we cannot forget this in our own lives...

When He gives a Word... it is a word forever...
When He gives a Law... it is a law forever...

His Word is never out of date... never culturally irrelevant...
because He is not... He is always the same...
always a Sure Foundation for our time... any time...

He will be the sure foundation for your times,
a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;
the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.
Isaiah 33:6

He is eternal...

Whether we are waiting on His promise to be fulfilled in our life... or struggling with how to live in the world today... His Word is trustworthy and sure...

We need to remember to wait...
be steadfast in His Way...
trust...

He never forgets... never changes His Way...
