Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

finding truth... in unexpected places...

A time away... to relax... be with family... rest...
watching movies we haven't seen...
some I never knew I wanted to see...

In one movie... I find a picture of what it's like... to walk a different way than the world... I find truth... in an unexpected place...

The movie... Moneyball...
the world... major league baseball...
the hero of the film... unsung...

The challenge to rebuild... walk in a different way...
led the hero... to a totally new approach to recruiting players...
designating members of a championship team...

Even though he is General Manager... the opposition he faces is incredible... he goes to extremes to create a roster in which the Manager has no choice but to play the players he's recruited... for the purpose he recruited them...

As he trades the only remaining all-star on the team... the Assistant GM... the one hired to teach the GM the new way... cautions him... These are hard moves to explain to people...

The GM looks at him... Do you believe in this thing or not...?

Asst GM... I do...

GM... It's a problem you think we need to explain ourselves... Don't...

Asst GM... OK...

And the GM fully commits... I'm gonna see this thing through to the end... for better or worse...

The commitment made to the new system... strategy... for putting together a winning major league baseball team... is the same commitment... Believers need to make to His Way...

Echoes of Shadrach... Meshach... and Abednego... can be heard...

"O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.
If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from
the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
But if not, be it known to you, O king that we will not serve your gods
or worship the golden image that you have set up."
Daniel 3:16-18 ESV

If it's right... if it's different than the world's way...
many will question... call you crazy... persecute...

His Way... when followed wholeheartedly... seems absurd to those in your world...

This kind of commitment even draws resistance from other Believers... those who feel the need to explain... justify their actions... those who suffer a greater degree of fear-of-man than fear-of-the Lord...

Make no excuses... no explanations... just don't...

Don't be deceived by running after the things of the world... or it's approval...

Fully commit... be all in... follow Him...

There is no other Way...

"Lord, to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life..."
John 6:68 ESV
