Jonah... called by God to send a prophetic message to a wicked nation... ran away... to the farthest city he could possibly get to...
Yes... he was deterred along the way...
a storm...
a great fish...
and finally a repentant heart...
Jonah delivered the message...
the people repented...
God relented...
Jonah had a hissy-fit...!
Why...?
And he prayed to the Lord and said, I pray You, O Lord,
is not this just what I said when I was still in my country?
That is why I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a
gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and of great
kindness, and [when sinners turn to You and meet Your
conditions] You revoke the [sentence of] evil against them.
Jonah 4:2 Amp
Jonah didn't want the Ninevites forgiven...
he wanted them punished...
he wanted them to pay for their evil...
But God... the Creator of all...
loves all... longs to forgive...
longs to be merciful...
His mercy... so much greater than ours...
Never doubt His mercy...
Is there someone you're withholding mercy from...?
Someone you don't want to forgive...?
