Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

learning to live shabbat shalom...

Three weekends in a row...
a day has been dedicated to sabbath rest...
a day holy to the Lord...

So far... I've learned...
it is not a day for self-indulgence...
it is a day for private worship... and prayer...
it should include a time of corporate worship... (even if it's with a cat...)
it is a day to be other-centered... compassionate...
a day to trust Him with the work He calls you to do...
a day to roll your burdens on Him... and trust Him to fill the gaps...

Shabbat shalom...
rest... peace...
should be an attitude we bear every day...
in Christ Jesus...

So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God,
for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested
from his works as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:9-10 ESV

Believers are to rest from their own salvation...
that work has been done by Him...

Believers should not work for themselves 24/7...
we should trust Him to provide...

Believers should not fret... or take on... the work He alone can do...
we need to recognize our finitude... our dependence on Him...

In this season of practicing a day of sabbath...
I'm learning to live shabbat shalom...
every... day...

Lord... teach me to rest in the work You've done...
the work You are doing... and the work You will do...
Thank You for filling in the gaps where I fail...
teach me to live... shabbat shalom...
