Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

resting in the truth... He is always right...

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven,
for all his works are right and his ways are just;
and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
Daniel 4:32 ESV

Now if Nebuchadnezzar... a pagan king... who defeated God's people... can come to the truth that the King of heaven is always right... praise Him for it... then we should be able to also...

In His sovereignty... His control over all... He is responsible for all that happens... He takes responsibility for all He allows...

Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it?
Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and bad come?
Why should a living man complain, a man, about the punishment of his sins?
Lamentations 3:37-39 ESV

And He reinforces the thought which came this morning as I praised Him as Right...

Father God... You are always right...! You are always just...!
We have no leg to stand on... when we complain before you...

Not only does He choose the miseries which come on account of the sin of the Fall... He also chooses the grace He gives... choosing an elect... choosing a people... to call His own... to save from the pain of sin.... of death...

And I think of a dear friend...
whose son had a narrow escape...
an incident which could have ended in death...

Tears rolled down her cheeks...
I could be collecting a body... and I'm thankful he's safe... but...
how can I praise Him for bringing my child back to me...
when so many others lose their's...?

Only the enemy stifles our praise...
with such fleshly logic...
a logic which forgets... denies...
He is always RIGHT...!

Praise the Lord!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.
The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names.
Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.
The Lord lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground.
Psalm 147:1-6 ESV

Even in those cases where children are lost...
a misery beyond belief...
He is right... just... always...
and always worthy of our praise...

Amen...

[A hard truth for our flesh to swallow...
and here is where I pray...
Lead me not into temptation...
but deliver me from evil...]

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,
for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew
he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he
might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined
he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom
he justified he also glorified.
Romans 8:28-30 ESV
