Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

what's in a breath...?

What's in a breath...?
His Spirit...

I've known this... but it's come with new revelation of late...

Beth Moore's lecture series on the Holy Spirit... titled... Breath... points out both Hebrew and Greek words translated as Spirit... or Holy Spirit... literally mean... breath...

She also reminds... we cannot speak... make a sound... without breath in our lungs...

His Spirit... His breath... gives life...

... then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life,
and the man became a living creature.
Genesis 2:7 ESV

Having this in mind the past few weeks... a song during a time of worship deepened the meaning for me...

You give life, You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope, You restore
Every heart that is broken
And great are You, Lord

It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only

--- All Sons & Daughters, Great Are You Lord

All of the sudden... the importance of each word... originating from this gift of breath... becomes so clear...

We only speak... by the power of the breath of life...

No wonder He has so much to say about our words in Scripture...!

When we use words to wound others... disgrace... dishonor... God... we are using what He has given us as good... for evil...

What a sin... a huge sin...

How true it is... we must guard our words...

When words are many, sin is not absent,
but he who holds his tongue is wise.
Proverbs 10:19

Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;
he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Proverbs 13:3 ESV

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;
keep watch over the door of my lips!
Psalm 141:3 ESV

Breath... it's a gift from Him...
What are doing...? with yours...?

Lord... forgive me for using Your gift of breath...
to wound others... disgrace You... and glorify self...
Make me mindful of my words...
May I only  use my breath to pour out praise for You...
and use words for Your glory...
