Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

The Journey Readings: Week 143... and... the purpose of church...

[The purpose is] that through the church the complicated,
many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and
innumerable aspects might now be made known to the
angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers)
in the heavenly sphere.
Ephesians 3:10 Amp

God... in all His infinite wisdom... apparently appears foolish to the heavenly powers and authorities... for creating a world... and people... who rejected Him... and then killed His own Son...

But His purpose... from the beginning... was to reveal His wisdom to the naysayers and skeptics... in the heavenlies...

He reveals His complicated many-sided wisdom... in all its infinite variety... through the church by...
  • blessing us with every spiritual blessing... (Ephesians 1:3)
  • redeeming us through Jesus's blood... forgiving our trespasses... (Ephesians 1:7)
  • making known to us the mystery of His will... to unite all things in Him... (Ephesians 1:9)
  • making Jesus the head of the church... which is His body... the fullness of Him who fills all in all... (Ephesians 1:22-23)
  • making us alive together with Christ... even when we were dead in our trespass... (Ephesians 2:5)
  • seating us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus... (Ephesians 2:6)
  • saving us by grace through faith... and not through our own works... (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • sending Christ to break down the dividing wall of hostility between Jew and Gentile... which is the law... and making both one new man... (Ephesians 2:14-16)
  • making us members of the household of God... (Ephesians 2:19)
  • growing us into a holy temple in the Lord... a dwelling place for God... (Ephesians 2:20)
So... I wonder... How are we doing as a church... revealing His great... infinite... wisdom to those unseen powers...?

I'm not sure we've made much of an impact in the world... much less the spiritual realm... but we are still unfinished...

His power and promises are great...
and I have no doubt... the ultimate punchline will come...
when Jesus returns... and the church... the true church... is revealed in all its glory...

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice
from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man.
He will dwell with them, and they will be his people,
and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away
every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there
be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things
have passed away."
Revelation 21:2-4 ESV

But in the meantime...
walk in a manner worthy of Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior...
reveal God's infinite multi-faceted wisdom to those in heaven and on earth...
