Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

more on waking to darkness...

If then the light in you is darkness,
how great is the darkness!
Matthew 6:23

Light... a metaphor for understanding...

If then... our only understanding... is darkness... a lie... a misunderstanding... how great is the darkness...!

Great darkness... because we believe we have light... true understanding... but we are in the dark... completely deceived...

Wake up to the darkness...

Then... you will know... truth... freedom... joy...

"The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! ..."
Matthew 6:22-23 ESV

Eyes... they have to do with seeing... seeing = understanding...

The eye is the lamp of the body...

A lamp... it guides... directs... lights the way...

What we see with our eyes... where we turn our face... directs our day... our life...

We look... where we are going... our way determined... by how we see the world...

So, if your eye is healthy,
your whole body will be full with light...

healthy... the Greek... literally means... whole...

Webster's defines whole... free from wound or injury: unhurt...

We are born into this world broken... injured... our eyes from the beginning are... bad...

bad... the Greek... meaning... in a physical sense: diseased or blind...

To see from a healthy eye... soul... to have a body full of light... can only come through healing... being made whole in Christ...

Otherwise... we are totally lost... in the dark... how great... is the darkness... when we don't know we are blind...

A loved one... one on which I'm waiting... sees with a bad eye... wounds... heart wounds... soul wounds... doled out by the enemy during growing up years... have blinded...

The beloved knows Him... but suffers spiritual blindness... when it comes to self-perception...

The wounded beloved... can't see past the lie... it seems true...

To overcome... a bad eye... we must replace it with a new lamp... the Word...

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105 ESV

I see it... but the beloved... can't...

So I pray... for healing... wholeness...
recognition of lies...
desire for more...
truth... to obliterate the lies...
Light... to cut through the darkness...

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
...
"Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."
---Jesus
Luke 4:18-19, 21 ESV
(my emphasis)

Amen!
