Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

slow to wake up...

Feeling low on grace...

Started off grumpy... looking ahead at a day... that would not go my way... only seeing what I couldn't do...

Not a good way to start the day...

Bonhoeffer... he tried to set me straight...
Human beings are not supposed to sleep but to be awake. Being awake means being sober, living not in dreams and wishes but in stark reality. Being awake means loving the day and work. It means being without illusions, because illusions idolize the world for us and veil our vision of the one God of whom one is to make no idols; illusions let us see the world in the colors of our own wishes and prejudices. Being awake means seeing the world as it is before God, without judging it.
--- Dietrich Bonhoeffer, I Want to Live These Days with You
I definitely started off judging the day ahead... suffocating under a veil of illusion... trying to whisk reality away...

Slowly... I've been waking up... embracing the day for what it is... doing the work... by His grace... with love... because as Bonhoeffer reminded...
This being awake is not something we can give ourselves. Rather, God must call us to this being awake.... Live before God as the one he has made you to be!
"Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you."
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:14-16 ESV

Father God... awaken me each day... to the reality found in You...
