Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

joy is to share

Leaving the church-house... gray-chilly air...
a small flutter-filled tree catches my eye... full of birds...
Cedar Waxwings...

The Waxwings migrate through in winter... I love to see them... joy from watching birds a gift given by my parents... Normally I would share the sight with my husband, but he was not with me...
Who would care? With whom can I share?

Back into the church-house... into the office I just left...
Does anyone care about birds? The little tree is filled...

The precious admin-assistant follows after me into the chilly-gray... There we stand under the portico... me sharing joy of birds... she listening... asking...

The moment passes... the Waxwings still flutter...

A simple thing... migrating birds... elusive... not spied every season... yet a joy that needed sharing...

Reflecting... Do I share the joy of Christ as quickly as I share the joy of birds? Do I hunt others down and say: Come and see! Hmmm... probably not... Why not? Why don't I call to others...

Shout with joy to God, all the earth!
Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious!
Say to God, "How awesome are your deeds!
So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.
All the earth bows down to you;
they sing praise to you, they sing praise to your name."
Come and see what God has done,
how awesome his works in man's behalf!
Psalm 66:1-5

I'll have to consider... examine the heart... and the joy...

What about you... what joys do you share?
Fleeting ones... or... eternal ones...?
