Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

preparation of the Bride: heart

A heart prepared for marriage is a heart in love...

We all long to be swept off our feet... heart captured... fully engaged...

I saw the effects of love recently... joy... peace... a heart changed...

But the human emotion of love is fleeting... no man or woman can stand the pressure of bearing the sole burden of another's love... we were not created to... not to depend on or be depended on...

God's greatest command...

God longs to be the best loved in our lives... He alone can bear the weight of love... He alone can be depended on as trustworthy... sure... His love is unfailing...

God is Love... and only in Him are we able to love...

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgement, because as he is so also are we in this world.
1John 4:16-17
ESV
(my emphasis)

...the day... the day that is unknown... the day that culminates in a wedding... those with hearts prepared will enter the wedding feast...

As Believers... the Church... the Bride to be... our first preparation is our heart... check to see who or what has first place... by whom or what have you been swept away?

If God has captured your heart... continue to nurture and grow that relationship... as we grow in love with Him we supernaturally begin to love others in a way that we can bear...

If another has captured your heart...your attention... repentance may be in order... an idol removed... a mind changed...

Lord, grow me to love You with all my heart... mind... soul... strength... that I might be ready for The Day...

Who has your heart?

  1. After writing this post today, I came across this:
"Let the things of this world fall away so the soul can fall in love with God. God only comes to fill the empty places and kenosis is necessary -- to empty the soul to know the filling of God." -- Ann Voskamp, A Holy Experience
"kenosis" - the relinquishment of divine attributes by Jesus Christ in becoming human (M-W)
