Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

The Journey Readings: Week 52... and His pain...

This last week... in the reading through of The Journey... I hear His pain... over the self-righteous...

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem,
murdering the prophets and stoning those sent to you!
How often would I have gathered your children together
as a mother fowl gathers her brood under her wings,
and you refused!
Matthew 23:37 Amp

Self-righteous... conviction of one's own righteousness... acting on what you think is right... no matter what He says...

A heart-ache He's felt from nearly the beginning...
His people...
rebelling...
wandering...
falling...
choosing their own way... over His...

Adam and Eve...
the Israelites in the desert... and the Promised Land...
the Pharisees and scribes...
legalists of today...
and those deceived by their own sense of right and wrong...

He said it through Isaiah the prophet...

"In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it. ..."
Isaiah 30:15

Our refusal... to trust... submit... come under His authority... is rejection of Him... His Way...

And I wonder... Am I causing Him pain...? Is there some area of my life... where I choose self-righteousness... over the Righteous One...?

What about you...?

When we get it wrong...
His heart aches...

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
he rises to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
Isaiah 30:18

Lord Jesus... thank You... for Your grace...
Your rising... on the cross... to show compassion...
making the Way... for justice... and righteousness...
for all who wait... hope... trust... in You... and Your Way...
