Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

expectancy...

Expectancy...

The word for the week... from an Advent study started last evening...

Expectancy...

Waiting for something expected...

It affects the way we live... preparations needed...

Expectancy...

Surprised by the realization of daily expectancies...
expecting my husband to return home each evening...
expecting Him to provide words for this place...
expecting the sun to rise and set...

Expectancy...

Some expectations are met... some aren't...

When expectations aren't met we often get upset...
mad...
disturbed...
flustered...

Unmet expectations can ruin our day...

Expectancy...

Expectations aren't always welcome...

Those of us who live in a glass half-empty world... always expect the worst...

Sometimes finding ourselves pleased... when expectations go unrealized...

Whew...

Expectancy...

The exercise in today's devotional... turned expectancy... on its head...
Think about the past year and identify four or five situations where God's grace surprised or encouraged you.
---Pamela C. Hawkins, Behold!
Listing His surprising graces... made me realize... my own expectations... may be less... than what He has in mind...

My own expectations... may even cause me... to miss His grace...

Especially when I settle... or fulfill... an expectation... on my own... unwilling to wait... not knowing what He has in store...

So... my prayer today...

Lord... help me lay down my own expectations...
and replace them with Yours...!
Your ways are always better...
and always worth the wait...
