Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

James 3: thoughts... part 4

Read James 3

Praising and cursing come out of the same mouth. My brothers, these things should not be this way. Does a spring pour out sweet and bitter water from the same opening? Can a fig tree produce olives, my brothers, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a saltwater spring yield fresh water.
Who is wise and has understanding among you? He should show his works by good conduct with wisdom's gentleness.
James 3:10-13

(emphasis added)

A transition that seems... odd... springs and wisdom... saltwater and fresh water... What does one have to do with the other?

I asked... waited... and received...

The whole of the passage... connections of words... tongue... and fruit... a metaphor... a word picture woven... the question...

Who is wise and has understanding among you?

...could also be rephrased...

Who has fresh water in his heart?

The one with springs of living water... flowing from within... he is the one with wisdom and understanding... the evidence... seen as plainly as water from a spring... good fruit from a tree... shown by good conduct... with wisdom's gentleness...

A transition... that makes perfect sense... when you see...

What flows from your heart...?
