Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

The Journey Readings: Week 75... and deliverance...

The revealed theme in the Psalms this past week... deliverance...
deliverance... the act of delivering someone or something: the state of being delivered especially: liberation, rescue...
---Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (11th Ed.)
Psalm 107 alone... filled with multiple deliverance scenarios...

  • Some wandered in the wilderness... hungry and thirsty...
  • Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death... because they had rebelled...
  • Some are fools... afflicted because of their iniquities...
  • Some go down to the sea... to do business... He commands and raises up the stormy wind... They reel to and fro and stagger like drunken men...

Each group... faced with varied troubles... all came to the same desperate place...

Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble,
and He brings them out of their distresses.
Psalm 107:6, 13, 19, 28 Amp

God allows trouble to bring people to the point of need...
They cry out in their trouble...
He delivers them out of their distress...

His acts of deliverance... reveal His character...
His grace...
His mercy...
His love...

Of course His greatest glory... revealed through the cross...
His greatest deliverance... achieved through His Son... Jesus...
His crucifixion... and resurrection... delivering us who believe...
from sin... death... judgment... and condemnation...

I will give great praise and thanks to the Lord with my mouth;
yes, and I will praise Him among the multitude.
For He will stand at the right hand of the poor and needy
to save him from those who condemn his life.
Psalm 109:30-31 Amp

Jesus ultimately delivers us from Satan... the accuser... the one who condemns...

When we recognize our need...
our poverty of spirit...
we cry out to Him...
He rescues... He delivers... He redeems...

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom He has delivered from the hand of the adversary...
Psalm 107:1-2 Amp
