Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

faithful in adventure...

A trip home after a weekend with family... turned into adventure...

Less than an hour from home... a storm turned us back...

The clues to turn...?
No cell phone connection...
Repeated voicemails... I couldn't access...
Text messages not sending...

Time to turn around...

Twenty miles down the road from where we came... calls could be made... texts received...

My husband had gotten stuck on the road... less than two miles from our house...

He was leaving home when he heard about the tornado warning... as he turned back home a large tree fell across the road in front of him... five fell behind him...

When I talked to him he had made it home... pulling branches enough out of the way to be able to drive by...

He said the house was fine... but we wouldn't be able to get there... no electricity... stay in a hotel...

Grateful for his safety... and ours too...

But as we left for home much earlier this afternoon... I'd taken a moment to ask God which way we should go...

One way mostly interstate... divided highway... several towns along the way...
The other way... miles and miles... of two lane no shoulder... roads through national forest...

He said to go the first way... so we did... not the way we usually go these days...

I realized as we turned to flee the storm... if we had gone the other way... we would have been much farther from any town... much farther from cover... and in the midst of a forest... two lane road... in high winds... torrential rain...

Grateful for His faithfulness...
Grateful for the prompt to ask for His guidance...
Grateful for a place to stay...
Grateful for adventure...(?)

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 100
