Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

whose house are you building...?

With mind filled with thoughts of sanctuaries... and righteousness... a passage read for Bible study... has me thinking...
This is what the Lord Almighty says: "These people say, 'The time has not yet come to rebuild the Lord's house.'"
Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: "Is it time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains in ruins?"
Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it."
This is what the Lord Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored," says the Lord. "You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?" declares the Lord Almighty. "Because of my house which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house. ..." (Haggai 1:2-9 NIV)
---The Story: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People
Now that was then... the people needed to give attention to the building of the physical temple... before they built their own homes...

And it makes me wonder... what about now...?

Do you not know that you are God's temple
and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV

How much attention... do we... as Believers... give to our hearts... the place where He dwells...?

Are you cleaning up your mind... will... emotion... that He might have a well-built home in your heart...? am... I...?

Or am I more concerned about my own home... my surroundings... and comfort...? what about you...?

When we have not made a priority... of building up God's dwelling place... nothing satisfies... nothing is enough...

You expected much... but see... it turned out to be little...

Do we dare consider... when we find ourselves unsatisfied... it may be because we have not spent enough time... energy... on our inner life... our heart... making a place for Him...?

It makes me wonder... about my concern over the physical distractions in my home... those piles of paper I've let get out of hand... What kind of spiritual... emotional... clutter... is piled up in my heart...?

My attention is being drawn... toward spending more intentional time... making Him at home in my heart... becoming a sanctuary... for Him...

A change in mind-set... a change in perspective...
because when this is right...
everything else... falls... in... place...

...seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33 ESV

Whose house are you building...? His...? or yours...?
