Develope a Palate

Develope a Palate
Daily intake of the Word nourishes the Spirit. Jeremiah's Menu is an exercise in recognizing God's Word made flesh in and around me. Eating the Word in a way that supplies the spiritual nutrients needed to grow. The Menu is offered with the hope of inspiring you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Bon Appetite!

Quote Du Jour

Quote du Jour
Christians may differ on a variety of points, but they have all one spiritual appetite; and if we cannot all feel alike, we can all feed alike on the bread of life sent down from heaven. At the table of fellowship with Jesus we are one bread and one cup. As the loving cup goes round we pledge one another heartily therein. Get nearer to Jesus, and you will find yourself linked more and more in spirit to all who are like yourself, supported by the same heavenly manna. ---Charles Spurgeon, Morning and Evening

The Journey Readings: Week 39... and being peculiar...

Last week's readings... made it clear... God's people... are to be... peculiar people...

For you are a holy people [set apart] to the Lord your God;
and the Lord has chosen you to be a peculiar people to Himself,
above all the nations on earth.
Deuteronomy 14:2 Amp

The people of His Kingdom... are to be peculiar... no matter which nation on earth they live...

Peculiar... according to Merriam-Webster... means... characteristic of only one person... group... or thing... distinctive... different from the usual... odd... curious... eccentric... queer...

Other translations of the Bible... use... treasured possession... rather than... peculiar...

The original Hebrew... reflects this translation... valued property... peculiar treasure...

God's treasured possession... is to be peculiar... in the world...

The law was the marker which made the Israelites peculiar to every other nation on earth...

A thought continued in the New Testament...

[Our Savior Jesus Christ] gave himself for us,
that he might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify unto himself a peculiar people,
zealous of good works.
Titus 2:11 KJV

We are to be different... from the world... when it comes to finances... relationships... entertainment... worship... wisdom... and justice...

For instance...

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
James 3:13-17

How about you...? are you peculiar...? compared to the rest of the world...?
